Our economy was founded on family businesses, and that is what GNR Equipment is, a family owned and operated business near Appleton, Wisconsin. Small businesses are the backbone of this economy. A father and son combination, makes GNR Equipment what it is today. The “G” represents the father, Greg, and the “R” stands for son, Rob.
Greg Laabs has over 45 years in the trucking industry and is an awesome troubleshooter when it comes to trucks. He can tell you what the issue is, sometimes just by the sound of it, and Rob, has the know-how and experience to repair it.
This early experience has been extremely valuable to troubleshoot and be involved with the trucking industry.
Greg has been married to Lea Ann for over 38 years. They raised their daughter, Elizabeth and son, Rob in Appleton, Wisconsin. Greg is proud of the fact that he has played in over 100 polka bands throughout the years, he plays tuba and valve trombone. He has been inducted into the Wisconsin Polka Hall of Fame three times (2009, 2011 & 2014). He is currently the Secretary for the Wisconsin Polka Hall of Fame (WPHF) organization, and the Sergeant of Arms for the Wisconsin Orchestra Leaders Association. To say he loves polka music is an understatement.
From little on, Rob has always enjoyed tinkering, figuring out how engines and equipment worked. At the age of 16, Rob was employed at Dawes Crane Rental. That is where he really gained knowledge and experience with repairing cranes and semis. Rob has worked as a mechanic in repairing heavy highway equipment. He’s worked with micropiling systems, construction and even bridge work. He has extensive knowledge, certifications and experience with a variety of equipment, which gives him a very diverse background.
Rob has two young girls, Morgan and Taylor, and is involved with them and enjoys his time with the girls. He’s also been involved in the FFA Alumni, been the president of St. John’s School Board in Suring, and involved on the Board of Directors for the Chute Pond Snowmobile Club. Rob is a family man and enjoys being part of the community in which he lives.
